01:03 pm - Carl Here is an entry dedicated to my dear friend Carl. He decided that Rochester is way cooler than Maryland and is going to move here. Ok so maybe that is not true, but he did come to visit. He was a rarity here at Naz, a straight boy that is not a lacrosse player, and let me tell you the ladies went crazy. Fun times were had by all, ok maybe not by Carl when I dragged him to the farmers market, but thats ok, I had fun. And I know Carl had fun watching me back down a narrow street with cars on both sides.

12:20 pm - no good So news about my mom keeps getting worse. The doctors found out that the cancer had spread to 4 of her lymph nodes. Then they determined that it is a fast growing cancer. That means that she has only a 20% chance of surviving 5 years... Current Mood: numb

10:15 pm - my mom.... So when I got back from Ecuador my mom was sick with some sort of bile duct blockage... she went to the hospital and had a endoscopy to see what the blockage was. They put a stent in to open up her bile duct so the bile would stop building up in her system. The scope found out that it was a tumor in her pancreas... and a biopsy determined it was cancerous. So they sent her home from the hospital to recuperate... and schedule a surgery called the Whipple procedure to remove part of her pancreas. The Whipple Procedure is one of the most major surgeries there is... but Johns Hopkins is the best hospital in the world for them. Meanwhile she is not getting anybetter, so she went back into the hospital to get another stent put in her bile duct. Still no results. So today they had to send a tube in through her side into her liver. And now her bile is draining out into a bag on her side (gross I know)... Her surgery is scheduled for next Friday (aka the day after my 21st birthday)... But the doctors say that the tumor is still really small and the surgery should be curative... so that is good

11:58 am - My first time was in Ecuador You may be thinking it is only june 6th, Lisa you must be in Ecuador for another 3 weeks. Well if you are thinking that you are wrong. It all started a week ago last Thursday. I got sick. My host mom thought it was just the flu and I agreed so I didn't go to the doctor. By Monday my fever and headache and chills were gone and I was just left with gastointestinal problems... so I went to the Clinicas Pinchincha. There I found out not only did I have a GI infection but a parasite too! So I got 3 types of medication and they sent me home. The antibiotic made me puke... as all antibiotics do. So when I went back Wednesday for another check up they made me get hooked up to an IV to get fluid and medicine for about 4 hours. Then they RIPPED (yes RIPPED) the needle out of my hand and I was about to go home when I puked. So the doctor said I would have to get checked in and spend the night in the hospital. I started crying. I did not want to spend a whole night in the hospital. I had never been hospitalized over night before. But they stuck me with an IV needle again this time in my wrist which had so much more fat than my hand so it hurt less... oh wait a minute.... not really. So I get checked into the hospital and moved to a private room. And Emily dear sweet Emily stayed the night with me and took care of me. If it hadn't been for Emily I think I would have died. All these doctors kept coming in and asking about my poop. Needless to say I learned a lot of new spanish words. And I would just like to say thank GOD i didn't have to make a stool sample like Kelly did... I just had to poo in a cup. I talked to my mom and she was quite worried. Between her worriedness and my miserableness we decided that I was going to come back to the States on Saturday. I was all set to leave the hospital on Thursday but the doctor said I should stay... so I cried more... actually it was more like sobbing. So I spend another sleepless night it the hospital. Then Friday rolls around and the doctor says I should stay ANOTHER night in the hospital and just leave early in the morning to catch my plane. I just no way! So I spend one last night at my house in Ecuador.... feeling sick and puking. I am now back in the US still sick but I am going to the doctors today... atleast now i can describe my poo in english.
On another note... my family is full of sickies... My mom had a bile duct blockage. She is in the hospital today to get scoped to see what it is... The doctor says it could be just gall stones... but since she has no pain... it is probably a tumor and to remove it, it is a very intersive, complex surgery. So that is all the good news from the Cameron family. The End

11:57 am - crazy crazy crazy Well I have now been in Ecuador for 2 weeks. The time went by really fast (with the exception of this past weekend because Emily and I had to cancel our trip to the beach because I got the silly flu). The family Emily and I are staying with is super nice!! We are living high class. They have a theatre in their house and the have people that come to help them cook and clean and do laundry and everything. The other day at lunch emily and I were eating our main course, and one of the ladies Flor, comes by with our laundry all cleaned and folded and was like would you like it in you room and then the other lady Magdalena comes in and brings us dessert. Pretty nice. Quito is a cool city, and we have been doing tons of fun stuff in and around the city. School is well school... atleast on tuesday and thursday we get to go on field trips which is fun. We have been to the historic party of the city, the equator, up to the hilltop when there is a huge statue of the virgin of Quito, and to an indigenous market. It is a really awesome country... everyone should take a trip here!!!!

12:21 pm - feels good to vent... So... the Roland Lisa saga is over. I have finally decided that being with him is no good. We were already just friends, but I still had that feeling deep down that he was the one for me and we would get back together someday. But I have realized he will never change and I want someone who will make me a priority in their life. Roland was supposed to come visit me but as per usual he stood me up... this time because he had a meeting for school projects today (saturday). If I had a nickel for everytime he stood me up I would be rich beyond my widest dreams. He always has an excuse why he can't come see me, why he is too busy, how everything else is more important than me. I wasn't asking to be the center of his life, just an important part. I recognize that he has a lot to do, but it is not like he is the only foreigner studying in the US and his life is so much harder than everyone elses. It is all about choices, he has made his, so I have made mine, not to be an "inconvience" to him anymore.

07:12 pm - Story Time Well friends here are some stories to tell around the campfire (ok maybe not the campfire but they are stories none the less)
Story number one: A halloween warning
An important lesson I learned this halloween is the Lisa and glowsticks dont belong together. I went to the maize maze with my dear friends Kristen and Kelly. It was a dark and stormy night (minus the storm) so we got glow sticks to guide us through the maze of maize. We had successfully navigate the maze a first time, and went back in for a second helping... when my glow stick BROKE!!! (I wasn't even chewing on it this time) Long story short... my hands looked like mutant alien hands... the moral of this story kids... even if you aren't chewing on your glow stick it still might break
Story number two: A halloween equation Lisa + Witches Brew + Norm's room = broken closet
Story number three: Franklin's first accident
For those of you who have not met him, Franklin is my car. Last night we were driving back to campus from my aunt and uncles house. We were approaching an intersection, there were lots of cars there, I was going straight through, as I got closer I saw a car who was coming the other way and turning left in front of me. I went eep! there is a car there, I should slam on the brakes, I am not going to stop on time, Maybe I will stop in time, nope def not going to stop in time, hey that guy is talking on a cell phone and driving, that is soo illegal, ah! i am going to hit him righhhhhhhhhhhht now bang! So friends that is the story of how franklin met Jerry's car. Franklin just has a couple bruises, but Jerry's car is smashed on the side. (PS both Jerry and Lisa are fine)

05:56 pm - Whaaaaaa? Yes readers, I am finally getting around to posting... perhaps a post would have come sooner, but nothing is going on in my life. I did not want to bore you all to tears with the boringness that is my life.
But despite the boredom here, I have been super busy. School work, sitting on babies, school work, going away on the weekends, school work... no seriously why does school have to be so hard... homework even, whatever happened to France...
In other updates... the on again off again relationship that is Lisa and Roland is now off... this time for real off. We are just friends now.
I might go to Ecuador for a couple weeks the summer with my travel buddy emily and anyone else who would like to go learn spanish and get to go to the amazon forest and other fun sites!
ok friends that is it
Happy Almost Halloween Current Mood: weird
